Random Quote

"Though quite why anyone might want a pick-up truck I have no idea. They are, to the world of cars, what Mexican food is to the world of cuisine. They exist, they are popular in Texas, and, er, that’s it."

- Jeremy Clarkson

Not saying enough.

I've been told quite directly by Ruth that my blog is faaar to impersonal. On that note to quite a degree I agree. I've never been much of a fan of naming people on my pages and sharing exactly whats been going on with whom. So this time around I will try and be more specific.

Went to the Brumbies V Cats games last night with Dunc, Whitey and Pix. Proceeded to get thoroughly drunk. Pretty good game untill the Cats finally put one down in the dying minutes. 28 to 7 end result. Bumped into Matt but didn't catch the rest of the family despite having a fair look around (insert obvious comment about being intoxicated and not being able to find my own shoe I'm wearing).

Into town for Cat's birthday. Cowboy theme with a mechanical bull to boot. Had a few goes which was great fun despite having absolutely no talent for such a 'sport'. I use the term 'sport' sparingly. Fun regardless.

So now I head into full swing for the weekend. Work is very quiet and we have no TV so I can't do my usual run down of video hits. Duncan and I will probably hit up Skyfire this evening then onto 'Chicks with Decks'. I'm reasonably sure that I'm working the door for some period of time at said event which more often than not is a reasonably amusing part of an evening. I tend to be somewhat draconian when 'working the door'. But there is plenty of fun to be had.

The old man is due sunday morning. Looking forward to catching up.

In unrelated immediate news heres some other absolutely mundane shit thats been going on lately... (this is not proving a point Ruth - This is an attempt at what we spoke of).

1- Ants. I've been crashing at Ruths place for well over a month now. She has what can only be described as 'a plague of ants'. If any near substance containing anything even remotely resemboling food/sugar is left for more than 5 minutes the army marches in. I actually fell asleep on the couch the other night and had barely a mouthfull of coke left in a glass on the coffee table. Upon waking and being rather parched I grabbed a swig. I got coke. I also got a face and mouth full of ants. I'm sure had it been recorded it would have made a great clip for funniest home videos. It is actually quite unbelievable how quickly the ant march comes on. One moment nothing, the next they are out in force.

2- Cat-Spedometer. Poor Boris (Ruths eldest cat atm) has had the misfortune of having to go to the vet near on 4 times in under a month. What is amusing here is that Boris acts as a audible speedo. However he does not just 'Meow'. It actually sounds a lot more like 'OWwwwww'. As you go from stand still to moving it begins. The faster you go, the louder and more frequent the screaming of 'OWwwww' comes from the back seat. At first highly amusing, then somewhat distracting moving towards plain hilarious after having done said trip a number of times (It's OK Boris only one trip left mate!).

Yes. I am aware the cat won't be reading this.

Thankyou come again.

Dear Nicola

Dear Nicola,

It was lovely to hear from you this afternoon at work. You have such a lovely pommy accent. However might I suggest that next time you ring the bloke you scored 'digits' off whilst off your chops at 'The Works' that when you dial the number make sure that it hasn't already rung somewhere else before you continue mashing numbers into your phone.

Next time we speak it would be great if you asked if I remember you before asking 'do you not remember me'. I might also like to add that it would be a good thing to listen to whats actually being said in reply to you. This way you could expand your vocabulary past the following phrases;

1)It's Nicola. I met you at 'The Works'. Do you not remember me?
2)It's Nicola, I was dancing with you. Do you not remeber me?
3)Remember I told you I was 18? Well thats not quite the truth. Do you not remember me?
4)It's Nicola. I was dancing with you at 'The Works'. Do you not remember me?

Now I'm not sure if you noticed a pattern there or not my sweet british sounding friend, but everytime you opened your highly educated mind into drive, you finished with 'Do you not remember me?' Let there be a lesson. When in reply a person says, 'I think you might have a wrong number, you have called a business phone number.' or 'I've never hear of 'The Works'' or even perhaps 'Whom are you actually trying to ring.' That you actually stop for a moment and maybe give yourself 10 seconds, fuck it.. 5 minutes for that information to digest and come back with something apart from the afore mentioned lines 1,2,3 or 4.

I wish you the best and I hope you get hit by a bus for the sake of all humanity before someone does knock you up and you pro-create.

-Dave.

Relocation + Weekend

So it is official. I'm a moving soon.
Just waiting in a last couple definitive answers and I'll be in full swing.

Scored free ticket to Brumbies game tonight (oh sweet one) and then usual weekend business will ensue.

Bought a stack of records last weekend which were largely remixes of classic 80's tracks.. My music taste has altered quite a bit over the past year.

Work has been.. Urghhh. Today jackhammer all morning, then for 3 odd hours in the afternoon a cement scraper. Makes even the most remedial task plain frustrating.

Did I mention football?

The United Family Front

So it was the big family shin dig this weekend. Certainly was
1)Entertaining
2)Outright painfull
3)Repeat
4)Profit???

I did get to spend an evening at the pub with my mother which was good. The food was even quite reasonable. Excellent.

My big exciting news is I finally acquired some new books. It has been a while since I last bought one and it was so poor I didn't finish despite multiple attempts. I'm even hunting down a book I've been after for ages, but it appears it may be harder to acquire than I first thought.

I really need to organise some more photos for you all, have some doozies to share but that would require something akin to 'working' and 'IT' both of which I've had a gutfull of doing in my spare time.

Tonight should be pretty quiet. Me, a couple of James Squires, one of my new books and if all goes well some sort of decent movie to watch.

More news when something actually happens.
